Introducing New Layouts and Essential Video Editing Tools on VSCO

 By: Team VSCO

We wanted to share some new enhancements to our video creation and editing tools on VSCO for you to try out this week, including the ability to trim, crop, rotate, and control the volume in your videos. We’ve also added new easy-to-use layouts to help you get started on your Montage videos and a fun canvas tool to transform your Montage backgrounds with a custom color.

Essential Video Editing on VSCO

We know you’ve been asking for more ways to transform your videos and edit them directly within VSCO. We acquired Rylo late last year with the intention to integrate this technology right into our VSCO experience and we’re so excited to roll out the first of many more video editing features, including the ability to trim, crop, rotate, and control the volume in your videos.

To try it out, go to your VSCO Studio, select a video, and open the editing panel, scroll to the right to see more editing options for Trim, Rotate, Crop, and Volume Control.

To trim: Remove the start of a video that’s shaky, or cut straight to the action

To crop: Make a vertical video fit to square, or make a landscape feel cinematic

To rotate: Click on the Adjust icon and rotate a video by 90 degrees or align your video to a horizontal or vertical line

To use Volume Control: Select the Volume icon to adjust audio volume using the sliding bar.

Montage Layouts

Layouts now make it easier and faster to create a Montage video on VSCO. There are 10 easy-to-use layouts that prompt you to mix and layer in videos, photos, colors, and shapes to get you started on your Montage video. We hope these layouts help spark your creative process and push you to try new ways of telling your visual story.

Try one of the layouts by starting a new Montage video and clicking on Add Scene. This will populate the option to select a layout.

From here, explore the different layouts -- add videos and photos, and try out new ways to stack, mix, and create multi-media collages.

Montage Canvas Tool

We’ve also added a fun new way to add color to your montage videos with a new Canvas feature that allows you to add a customized background color or border to your Montage videos.

Once you’ve finished your Montage creation, you’re ready to save and share.
